LR32 dust collection

I recently used the LR32 to build a kitchen and install doors.  It worked well thanks to the instruction that I received from this site.  My question is related to drilling the 35mm holes in the doors.  Is it possible to get any dust collection around that large bit?  I did the drilling at the job site and it created a lot of mess.  Dust collection is one of the main reasons I got into Festool.  I hope someone has some answers or advice.  Thanks.

I've not had any luck collecting much of the dust when drilling the 35 mm cup holes with the OF1010. It's too big of a hole. The OF2200 would probably be a different story.

I was drilling large holes on the drill press and trying to catch the debris
with a vacuum hose. With the drill press table up high visibility is very good.
At the start the debris is thrown laterally and only about 20% is caught
by the hose but as the hole gets deeper and the debris has to exit
the hole vertically closer to 90% was caught by the hose.

If you can rig up a containment collar around the bit you'll get better collection.

most things with festool it will collect the dust excellanta!  and somethings not so well,  lr32 happens to be one.  and are you talking about when drilling the adjustible holes are the hindge cups?

Try making an offset base from 3/16 hardboard so the router does not float off the work on the foot. Keep the hard board clear of the rail but cover the hole in the router plate completely so it will be zero clearance  when you plunge the bit through. The hard board can be held on with carpet tape and need not protrude from the router base.  I don't have a lr32 but this is how I vac up when making groves except I cut a tail in the hardboard away from the bit to give the vac more of a chance at the dust.

That's pretty cool! I can think of lots of ways to adapt it to other uses.

wnagle, please share some of your ideas, may come in handy. [smile] You can use an old CD/DVD over the hole and drill a custom sized hole for specific jobs. Also if you run a bead of silicone around the edge, it will create a better seal against the surface being drilled.
