MFSlab Portable Work Table

No I didn't - they shipped me some corner bracket thingees instead, and now the Storehorse is gone from their site. There's an Amazon seller who now has them for $127.47 (free shipping and apparently no sales tax).

It looks like I got the last three walmart had, But I still haven't found someone in Houston to CNC the top. [wink]

On the plus side, I found a local (Seattle area) CNC shop that quoted me $75 for routing plus they can source the LDF for $57/sheet.
I had a couple of PMs on this. They're in the Bothell area (NE of Seattle):
And here is their "quote". There isn't any significant discount for doing multiple sheets at the same time:
  • I can get light weight MDF (Trupan) for $57.04 per sheet.
  • Cost to cut your supplied file $70.00

Check out 100kgarages to locate CNC and Fab shops in your area.

The site is supported by ShopBot and other digital fab related companies, and anyone with a digital fab machine can post their capabilities.

While I have not used them yet, I located a guy with a 60 by 120 ShopBot 30 minutes from my house (in the vast wasteland of the SNJ shore), & he quoted me $100 to create the design file and route a full sheet of MDF in a MFT pattern. I'll give him a try this spring when I get back into the shop.

I believe you can also post larger jobs to solicit bids.

I'll be working on a slightly larger version of the MF Slab for my shop. If anyone in the Pikes Peak region wants one, get a hold of me, I have access to CNC.

My MFSlab is being milled today so it's time to find some new sawhorses and I see folks mention not being able to find the recommended StoreHorses.  Does anyone know a place to still find them?  If not, does anyone have an alternate/better recommendation?

Hi centerisl,
I am in Seattle area too. I wonder how was your experience with the cut? Thanks.

Dewalt and Stanley do similar versions.

The cheapest JawHorse I could find on Amazon was $139 each.  Rockwell RK9003 JawHorse Material Support and Saw Horsehttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B007XRFQKW/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_QQopvb13EWGVBhttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B007XRFQKW/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_QQopvb13EWGV.  Rockwell RK9003 JawHorse Material Support and Saw Horsehttps://www.amazon.com/dp/B007XRFQKW/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_QQopvb13EWGVB
Is that the one you were talking about?
Yes, i am using rockwell jawhorses. I got them two years ago when lowes cleared the old model (yellow color). It's about $30 and i bought two. Seras also has their  craftsman jawhorse on sale once a while.

Steve:

On the video you show the parallel guide with 20mm posts. Would you provide the details, source? Thanks so much.

Ordered the slab today. All this talk about buying saw horses....WalMart.. etc.  Why isn't anyone building their own?

You make the case for the slab when talking about walking to jobsites in San Francisco. You need to adapt an old army rucksack and carry the sawhorses on your back while toting the slab. Festool needs to offer a Systainer rucksack option. Just the thing for ultimate portability.

I got the Dewalt folding horses at Lowe's $89.00 each.  I screwed a 2x4 4' long to the top, then got 4 2x4x8's and cut dadoes in to sit on the 2x4 on the horse.  I put a piece of cheap 1/2" plywood on the top and cut away.  You don't have the holes, but it works very well at breaking down 4x8 sheets into manageable sizes for the mft using the rails and guides.  Bill

This is awesome.

Come Monday the shop where I dwell will be sporting a CNC machine - so I no longer avoid threads like these...

Thank you for the very inspiring solution.

Hi I found a similar product in tool-shop.co.uk in the uk.
It is a very usefull and easy to transport I have MFT tables but this Festoppa that I got the other day is alot easier to move on and off site. Very clever bit of kit.
