New workshop build

I am very busy at work and that is the only reason I just work over the weekends now but this week I am off till January 10th and I am in the shop every day. So sometimes I cannot post because I am coming back from work too late and I have to go back early in the morning. But it will change soon and I can be in the shop for longer hours.
So far I did a lot in three days, I made some hardware for slat wall and I just have to paint it and it will be done.
At the same time I am working on the storage area for under the stairs which is a nice space to store cleaning stuff, paint and etc...
I had to make some large boards and I had two choices, use how ever I have because I have to clean up the garage and it gets painted any way or visit the lumber yard which would be faster.
I just used what I had and here were I am now. It is moving forward so far so good.

I finally finished today after working almost everyday.
The idea was to use the under stairs to store mostly cleaning, painting glue...etc and some not everyday use tools and after the thought this is what came up to my mind. If you just screw few shelf on the wall, then center stays open because you have to walk in to get the stuff. How about use the whole space and bring the stuff to you and put them back quickly?

The dark gray one is the deepest and one side only but the other two are two- sided.
Here is the pic from the other side.

OK, let's go for ride now. Here is all three of them stored under the stairs and you just have to pull it out take what you need and put it back like in the second pic.
I also hanged a thread verifier right there and working on the back wall for storing marking and measuring tools only. It just a quick look but not done yet.
Happy new year to all and wishing the best in coming year.

Every time I revisit this thread, I am still amazed at how nice your shop turned out. Tons of great ideas, and more every month it seems.

I’m curious, have you ever considered selling the Festool router table and one MFT, then using the reclaimed space for a short stroke Hammer sliding table saw/shaper combo?

Great design and use of space!
The only thing I would have changed would be the access side of the big/one sided drawer to give access from where you come from...

But really great work! [emoji1319]
Thanks for sharing!

A little late to the party here, but I only discovered this thread yesterday.  What a jaw dropping transformation and incredible shop set up!  Thanks for sharing.

I have no idea how I missed this until now.  [eek]

I'm speechless.  [eek]

Unbelievable.  In a good way of course.  [eek]

Not yet because I use the cms in the garage as well but I would like to have a shaper in the future. Thanks for the comments.

It was the original plan but I made a mistake and it was too late. As far as it is not a big problem I just let it go.

The spray shop is not done yet, hopefully the end of this year. Right now I use the garage and the next project will be the storage for all cutting tools if I get my parts by weekend.

Thanks to all of you folks for following this thread and comments are much appreciated. For some of us who is full time employee, it is not easy to be on line all time and progress goes slow sometimes. So that is why you see gaps between my posts but hopefully it is getting better.

I love how you used the space under the stairs. Very clever.  [thumbs up]

Thanks for taking the time to share your work.  Very nicely done!  What a great idea for using space under the stairs.

What are silver and black knobs on the wall next to the stairs?  At first I thought they were a display of knobs, then a rack of sockets, but I looked more closely and it doesn't seem to be either of those.

How are you supporting the shelves in the storage units?  It looks like you have routed slatwall grooves in the vertical panels and inserted supports for the shelves, so that you can reconfigure the shelves or use other slatwall accessories.  What bit(s) did you use to route them?  It looks like an undercutting bit of some sort.  Also, it also looks like you routed grooves in the dark gray unit at regular intervals, while only routing slats for the shelves that are visible in the lighter units.  How did you decide where to route the grooves on the different panels?

Harvey you'll usually see those at the hardware store or big box store near all the threaded fasteners.
