Hello! New to FOG (although I've read search results for years haha) and new to owning the OF1400. I see that Festool offers handful of copy rings that snap into the base of the OF1400, but all I can find are metric. Wondering if any imperial copy rings are available. Main size I'm looking for would be 1/2" ID with 5/8" OD, for use with a 1/2" upcut spiral bit for template routing. Right now I'm using the bushing adapter that came in the kit, but wondering if dust collection would be better with the Festool copy ring.

If you really want to use imperial guides, you'd need to pickup one of the Festool 30mm copying rings for bushings, and an imperial set of guide bushings like the attached pics.

Thanks to everyone for the info! I'm currently using the copy ring for bushings that came with the OF1400, along with a set of imperial guide bushings that I already own. But dust extraction is not great. Because of the design of the PC-type (screw-in) bushings with the lock nut above the base plate, I thought this might be hindering dust extraction. However, I've also not used the OF1400 on anything else, so have nothing to compare dust extraction to. I did find a 12mm carbide spiral upcut bit, but can't seem to find the copy ring that would go with it. Does Festool make a copy ring for a 12mm bit? Has anyone used the Festool copy rings and found dust extraction to be improved as compared to the PC-type bushings?

Unfortunately not...at least not in recent years and that's strange because a 14/17 is offered for the 1010 and a 15/17 is offered for the 2200. They did offer a 14/17 copy ring about 15 years ago, P/N 493315.

I've used both but unfortunately at the time, I was more interested in machining accuracy and didn't really care/think about dust collection.

I've done a lot of template work with mine and find the dust extraction still works pretty well, not really any noticeable difference using the 17mm ring (which would be the closest for a 1/2" cutter) and using the screw in guide bushings.

Good to know! Which hose do you use--27 or 36? I realized after I did a bunch of routing that the extractor was full, so that was definitely contributing to the lack of dust collection as well 🤦🏻‍♂️
