Okay, so we are just getting into 2014 but I have to ask.........

You should be able to get the ghist...

  • a simple right-angle close-off parts to the whole complex free-form shapes, ranging from: arches, beams, convex and concave shapes
  • interior arches made of 50 mm rádiusztól, the external form is up to 25 mm radius may block
  • Shut off all the classic design can be processed quickly and easily - from the tree and the whole muanyagtól melamine - In view of the current material, 18 to 65 mm height and 0.5 to 3.0 mm thickness
  • thermally decoupled glue unit provides quick heat-up Time
  • Special Dosage Chemical Anchor System: comfortable and easy recharging the color change, the exact amount you need to melt adhesives
  • 2-speed, speed setting, for example. the degree of the two straight parts by closure
  • Temperature control: two preset temperature, the more freely adjustable to suit your needs

I did a stint with an electronics company that made their own machine stands and the portable edge banders all had the same problem and always seemed to slow things down:

  - slow to get going (up to 50 minutes before the glue was melted)

  - had to keep the machine horizontal (or the hot glue spilt out - I learnt the hard way)

  - glue solidified and did not clear the next day (about every 3rd day it took well over an hour to sort out)

  - all the unused glue in the machine had to be trashed at the end of each day (as the reservoir had to be emptied)

The machine in the picture above looks a lot safer than anything that I have tried before.

JRB I've heard off a rep that a fein mm type tool is coming out but not to tell anybody!  Like I would do that

Any idea of price yet?

I asked that. The response was "not cheap!"...  [scared]

Apparently around £1750 + VAT

That sounds about right for an edge bander from Festool. I won't be buying one but I would love to have a go with one - particularly if they have solved some of the common problems of this class of machine.

I just recently upgraded from a Bosch to a Fein MM, which is a great tool. I remember thinking, "it would be really cool if Festool came out with a competitive product that improved dust collection".

Dam it!!!!
If it was like £900 ish I would of bought it even if I didn't need it kinda thing. I know I would incorporate it into my jobs and use it but now I gotta think about it and likely won't buy it unless I think I really need it at that price.

Jmb A couple of weeks ago I was told it would be around £800

but yesterday when the rep bought it to demo he told me it was around £1900 and thats just for the machine there is a lot of extra kit you can buy for it

which may put the overall cost up to around £4000.. so its aimed at the larger business user..

Jmb you would love it I see one in your future [big grin]

one nice touch is they include a template to make fitting it to a user made table easer for the end user..

Maybe maybe.   Depends which direction my work goes at the moment it's everything but I'm thinking more production as I am getting more production type of work as well as bespoke still.  So I'm going to try and go down the bespoke production route.  Something like this would come in.

I have looked at edging machines before but I personally don't like edging but it is quicker.

I prefer to paint the edge much more durble than glueing a edge on which can get broken off.

I think you can use banding that is 3mm thick that would be a quality product and when you see how the glue goes on it would change your mind about banding

Oh yeah I know but thing is you can see that thickness from the side.  Atleast with painting its still thin and from the side can't be seen.

I wil look into it just at that price I have to think long and hard.....

Just buy me ... you know you want me..... [big grin]
you can even attach it to a dust extractor

Just noticed the name on the machine - 'Conturo'.

Googling it proved quite interesting...

One site that came up lists words that TTS has applied for trademark. From this it seems that the rumours of a multimaster-type tool are true, and that Festool's version will be called 'Vecturo'  [blink]

Also, it seems that the 'Conturo' edge bander was a Holz-Her product, before they went bust in 2010 & were bought by TTS. I can't find a picture of it so don't know if it's the same machine, or they've just used the name for a new one. - seems the Holz-Her conturo was a small router for trimming edge banding, not applying it. Just the other day, while cutting a hole in a wall, I was thinking, why doesn't Festool make something for this? Then I see this: http://www.festool.com/EN/Products/Pages/Product-Detail.aspx?pid=767996&name=Diamant-cutting-system-DSC-AG-125-Plus.

Want. wantwantwant! [eek]

Hi, have at Locky's video in recent comp. Protool version, but essentially the same.

Comes as a 230mm too - and in a container that's slightly larger than a maxi !!
