Question for the European and Australian members (any non-American)

Colour me confused as I have no idea of what is being discussed here, I thought we were talking about drive sizes (1/4, 3/8 1/2 3/4 etc) but it then got all technical and I have no idea at all what is going on now.

It's all very interesting nonetheless. That's the beauty of this particular forum, some things are just different and I really like exploring that. For me, it's usually about "Why?" Somewhere, somebody did a thing and everyone in that area of influence did the same thing, because it worked. Once you get outside that range though, someone else had the same problem and went about it differently, for whatever reason.
It's the why which has always helped me remember things.
