Swapping Vacuum Bottoms?

I have a CT48 AC. I love it, and the fact it can hold so much dust.
However, it's heavy and bulky when I have to travel with it. Especially when the bag is filling up.

In lieu of buying a whole new dust extractor could I buy just the entire bottom for a smaller machine and attach my 48 top to it?

The CT26 and CT36 look to have very similar bottoms, with the hose entering the same way as the CT48.
The other versions look to have the hose enter from the top, so I'm guessing they wouldn't be an easy switch?
Would the fact it's an AC model only allow me to use the CT36 AC bottom? Considering the reason I want to do this, I'm leaning towards the CT26 if it would work, even though it's less than 2 pounds lighter empty.

I'm in the US if it matters.

It appears you can purchase an entire bottom sub-assembly from Festool.

I believe the CT 26 sub-assembly is 500327 for $166.50. I'd verify that with Festool before ordering.  [smile]

Thank you for the part number. :)

Before I order it, the question is, will my CT48 "bolt" right on to it?

Yes, it should.  The top half of the CT 26/36/48 are all nominally the same, other than electronics differences for L/H/M and/or AC versions.  It's quite efficient from a manufacturing perspective.
