Yesterday, while sitting in the Cleveland airport waiting on my connection, I had time to reflect on my visit to the "Green Castle." I had the pleasure of spending 2 more day in Lebanon with five other enthusiastic festoolians & Brian. Who I might add is a shinning example of Festool at it's best. Shane & Minnie dropped by as well. I am still overwhelmed by how I felt special. This is a company that takes very good care of its customers. From transportation, food, (be ware of the "Big Ugly") lodging & atmosphere.
Doors & drawers class was just great. I always come away with new (to me) & better ways to use my festools. More & more I am becoming a fan of metric. Like Joe said, it make the math easier. The course outline is great! Brian knows how make wood working either as a hobby or lively hood fun. Using the CMS (NAINA yet. Yes we have all heard that many times) was a blast. This is what I came to the class to experience. What a great system. Dust collection for the OF routers is excellent. The routers, 1400 & 2200 are protected form dust by clear plastic shields increasing motor life. Set up is a sap. Hope we see this soon.
We had a glimpse of some of the new tools headed our way next year. The battery powered LED light is just great. The closet was not. The polishing system will Improve our ability to create mirror like finishes. We were told both of these product will be here next year.
It's the experience of using these fine tools that temps us. If you have been thinking adding to your Festool collection, don't wait. Take the plunge. You cannot loose with Festool's 30 day return policy on tools only (acc are not included ).
Thanks to my classmate who always add to the experience, Joe, Mark, Dave, Buzz & Cory (will not spend the night at the airport again) & all at the "Green Castle" who made my visit a great time.
