With two shapes, all the types and grits, it is no easy job to come up with packages that satisfy everyone. For my Domino I like having every size Domino in a Systainer, but for a sander, do I really want every shape, type and grit? Well, if someone GAVE it to me, sure! This is the kind of thing where speculation, even based on other sanders, has limits. I think putting this together by task is the way to go, but still not easy. For now I will be happy with a sample pack with the sander. I will try them out, note which ones I find most useful for my applications and go from there.

Finally gave in and tried to pre-order the RO 90 from local store. Went to them because the owner has taken care of me in the past. He was not there when I went in and it showed. The employees did not have any idea what it was and could not answer simple questions. Ended up not pre-ordering it. I do not think I will make large purchases from them in the future.
Does any one know if it is released 1 March, does that mean we should be able to get it 1 March or is that when Festool ships them?

The RO is so new, relatively few dealers, let alone employees, are familiar with it. We dealers haven't even got our own "RO demo tool" to get familiar with it yet. The employees have over a month to bone up on it, before it's available. Chances are, if you got taken care of before, you will get taken care of again.

I like to know what I can fit in the Systainer so I can decide if I'll need another Sys for the accessories. As you can see there is plenty of room for additional sanding pads, abrasives and the extended delta pad without the Systainer being overly crowded.

I used the RO 90 back in Sept. and I can tell you that the delta pad is not RANDOM orbit, unless something was changed.

It does the same thing as the DX93, just with more ommph.
The switch in part limits the delta pad's travel. Position #1 Rotex mode, Position #2 RO mode, position #3 lets you take the round pad off and put the delta pad on and sand with it. It is a gear driven orbital sanding mode.

i think it would defeat the purpose of a triangular pad (let alone security issues) to make it spin in circular motion around its centre point. there is actually a notch coming out of the bottom of the sander to prevent it from doing exactly that. you can only fit the triangular pad when in orbital mode. you CAN use round pads in orbital mode, too. i try thinking of a situation where this would be superior to rotex mode or random orbit mode?
