Got the plastic at woodcraft, a bit pricy but worth it for this.

US Plastics (usplastics.com) has all kinds of stock at prices that are as reasonable as any I've seen.

well here's my base that i made about a year and a half ago.  I got deployed, so i was'nt able to post it sooner.

Incredible!  I've made half a dozen router bases, four for the OF1010 and two for the PC690, but I'd never have dreamed of doing what you did.  Glad you're back home safe and sound, thanks for your service and for sharing your work here.

John

pretty slick.  Is that aluminum?  I'd love to see the channel underneath as well.  Very cool setup indeed

Nice projects guys...I like the addition of the knob on the outboard side of the acrylic base.

For those that don't have the time or desire to make an extension base (table widener) for the OF1400...there is a version available in the U.S. catalog (pg.  92 - part # 493233)...it is solid phenolic resin base for rigidity, strength, and reduced marring.  The Festool guide bushing adaptor (pg. 90 - part # 493 566) snaps into the router, and the dust hood is held in place on the table widener by rare earth maginets.

well here's my base that i made about a year and a half ago.  I got deployed, so i was'nt able to post it sooner.  the base takes benchdog insert plates and the inserts from kreg (they have one that takes a collar).  The chip deflector is attached by magnets that are in the base.  As you can see by the picture, I use the bigger deflector, The one on the left is the one that comes with the router (huge diffrence in performance!)  I made a channel in the base so that I could hook the vac to the base instead of the router (big diffrence in edge routing) then I plug the router collection port. the base is made from phenolic ( a blank benchdog plate) the whole thing took a few nights at work (still had to do my real job) but it was fun,  hope you like!

Can you provide a good side view picture or something that shows the channel for the dust collection you made?

...I have been looking for some longer M4 x 8 flatheads to use with a thicker pad.  Haven't had much luck locally.

Ace Hardware has a pretty good selection of metric hardware.  I bought some bolts at Ace for my OF1400 router.  Pricey but convenient, especially for small quantities.

Hey guys, sorry it took me a few days to reply, but as requested, here is some pictures of the channel in the plate.  I failed to mention earlier that the top plate is alluminum.  I also cut a draft angle in the channel to help with the air flow.  Does it make a big diffrence? Couldnt tell you, but its there.  Thanks for looking!

FWIW, I find that drill bits with a 150 degree point (as opposed to 82 or 135) work well on Acrylic.  The sharper points tend to break through and crack the plastic.  Polycarbonite is much more forgiving, but more expensive.
