I doubt the plan is to take them back to bare wood .. RO90 with interface pads, used till the shine is gone and the surface is smooth is well within still being round enough for a bed post. Even using the method you mention - it has the potential to oval the leg .. only perfect way is to stick it on a lathe and sand it!!
