Which small sander for stripping bed with round legs?

If you want them to stay perfectly round electric is usually not the way to go. I'd just cut a long strip of paper, wrap it around the leg and tug both ends of it back and forth rapidly while walking around to vary the angle until the bad stuff's all gone.

I doubt the plan is to take them back to bare wood .. RO90 with interface pads, used till the shine is gone and the surface is smooth is well within still being round enough for a bed post. Even using the method you mention - it has the potential to oval the leg .. only perfect way is to stick it on a lathe and sand it!!

Here's an update,

I bought the rotex 90, a soft interface pad and some 60 & 80 grit. I did a test with it both geared and non-geared and felt the latter was the better option and it was more controllable and less aggressive for the contours.

Short story: this thing is awesome. It sanded the legs back to bare wood in no time and has not flattened or ovalled them at all.

I used the metabo to do the flat boards. Until it broke! To be fair it's had a hard life and I must have had it for about 13 years.

I'm sure you can see where this is going  [eek]

So now I also have a Rotex 150 and an ETS EC 150/3 [big grin]

Anyway, just wanted to confirm that the soft interface pad is perfect for this job!

Cheers
Dave
