Domino Owners: Do you still use your biscuit joiner?

B joiners also work well for cabinet installations. Especially when you're working alone. Just cut some slots and put some biscuits in without glue and it helps tremendously with alignment. Not exactly a method that will break any speed records, but if you're having a tough time aligning some wall cabinets, it can be a real help.

I can't think of anything else I use mine for anymore. Come to think of it, I'm not even sure where it is. Its just not something I use often.

I don't have a biscuit joiner, but since I have now ordered the new Domino I am certain that I will not be getting one.  I do, however, have a yet unused Kreg K3 Master System that may find its way to the local flea market.  While pocket-hole joinery allows one to proceed before the glue dries, the resulting hole --even plugged-- limits its applications.  No, even though I agree with Per's keep 'em concept, I think my K3's days are numbered.

Corwin,

Don't sell that K3.

Jig to make jigs man,

I make a lot of on site contraptions.

To serve a single purpose.

If not for pocket holes.

I would prolly have a garage full of one off jigs glued together

that I will in reality never use again.

I should of bought a lotto ticket, or something, as I was sure you would come back with the good for making jigs thing...  Looking forward to getting the Domino!

Everyone,
I was about to start a topic on what to use your biscuit joiner for if you're a Domino owner.  Then I remembered that this discussion was already created.  So I thought I'd revive it here...

I've been using the Domino for a little while, but I still own a Porter+Cable biscuit joiner.  The one thing I still use the biscuit joiner for is making slots for table-top fasteners.  I think I do that just because I need to use the poor biscuit joiner for something!

But I'm thinking of switching to the Domino even for table-top fasteners.  I'd just set it for the narrowest, shallowest cut.

That means I'll soon be in a position of not using the biscuit joiner for anything.

Now that the Domino has been out for a while, I'm wondering how others feel about this.

Thanks,
Matthew

Well, I haven't fired my PC 557 in anger since I got the Domi.  ;D  But, I used it mostly for alignment and the Domi is better and faster for me at that chore. Plus, Domi makes great loose tenon joints as well. I have kept it, thinking I will have a use for it, but so far no.

Bob's rule No 742: If you can't think of what you would use a tool for, just sell it and then you will find out why you should have kept it!  :o
