Guys,
I wanted to show you some pics of my first large piece of furnature and my wife's Christmas gift. I do smaller projects and like to work around the house. I am thinking of building a sofa table and coffee table that my wife has been wanting.
The table is made of 4/4" oak that has been biscuit jointed together then cut to length and with. I then biscuit jointed 4/4"x2" hard maple on the sides and 4x4"x6" hard maple to the ends for the breadboard styling. The bottom is stiffened by 3 8/4"x8/4" oak secured with Kreg pocket screws to allow of expansion. I build the frame of 4/4"x4" and legs are 4"x4". I drilled in 2 nut inserts into each leg for support.
The bench is same build style but all oak.
I sanded to 220 on all tops and sides but only 120 on the undersides.
Finished in Dark Walnut with 7 coats of a water borne finished sprayed I sanded with 400 grit by hand between the final 2 coats.
Please let me know your thoughts and tips for future projects that may make my projects better.
Festool tools used: MFT, TS55, Trion, OF1400, CXS, RO90, RO125, ETS125, Midi, CT26, Boom arm, First Aide kit
Thanks Guys
Pete
