Fold Out Multi Tools

Ah the Festool Toolie. They have been gone a few times and selling for ridiculous prices used.

EDIT: Still (again?) available; #498863

Don't know if you can replaces individual parts on it... I'd try grinding a new flat on it.

I've been thinking about that but I don't think I have a way in my shop to hollow grind it. I'll check with the shop at work and see if any of the machinists can do it.

I’m not in town to take a picture, but I made a custom toolie by buying multiple different driver sets from harbor freight for like two bucks each, taking them apart abs reassembling them into one unit with the drivers that I need.

As far as I’m aware, the Toolie isn’t available in the US, though it can sometimes be imported from overseas. I have one courtesy of another FOG member who bought a few while on a trip to Europe and offered them up here.

It’s a great little device, though. I use it all the time.

Makes no sense that I can see as to why this is not sold in NA. It's a universal tool with all the bits you need to maintain your assorted Festools. Why would they not sell it here? Where they draw the line on some of these products is baffling.

An enterprising dealer might offer a deal where if you buy two or more tools they throw in a free Toolie. But that's probably frowned upon.

I guess it might come down to an expectation of low sales. With a range of metric bits, they may think that it won't be a hugely popular tool. Yes, it works for the purpose of adjusting things on some of Festools tools, but perhaps they think very few people will buy a tool just for that alone.

Even over here, it's filed under the category of 'merchandise' rather than being seen as a tool in its own right. I think it's pretty far down their priority list.

Technically, it's just a rebranded Wiha Pocketstar though, so perhaps these are available in the US:

Maybe because Americans would then complain the hex keys are metric...

The 'add to basket' button isn't greyed out for me (I'm in the UK, but I also tested it via a US VPN). I think there may be something strange going on with their system, or the stock is so low the status is constantly changing.

I added one to my basket and it warned me the 'requested quantity' wasn't available. But even with that warning, it went into my basket and was marked as being in stock at the checkout. So basically, it's a bit confused.

Sorry just realised you're the OP - rather than paying to ship from another country, why don't you buy the Wiha version over there:

And if you really want the Festool logo, you can just use the Wiha one for parts.

Everything Festool on Axminster has a grayed out "add to cart" button, even on items that are NAINA.  It's part of the agreement that Festool USA, Festool UK, and Festool EU have with each other and their dealer networks.

Strange. I added it to my basket while connected via a US VPN. An IP lookup showed me at my companies Burbank office.

If I change my "Ship To:" country to the UK, I can add it to my cart even from a US IP.  I haven't tried other permutations or processes to try to wedge it into a cart and check out because I don't need the folks at Axminster to have to deal with canceling the order after the fact (which companies do all the time) and/or getting in trouble with Festool for breaking their agreements.
