Does Banggood carry any goods that fall under the patent infringement category? I have never been to that website to allow me to say yes or no.
BUT this statement of yours "I don’t know if that applies to woodworking tools as most of them have been around forever and I don’t see any patent claims on any of them." is clearly not specific to Banggood. Is it?
No, it is not specific to Banggood. I can walk into any big box home improvement store and look at their products and will find good, better and best. Not every item that is similar looking will meet all of my needs if I want something really well thought out but for many people they will never need that function and are unwilling to pay for it.
Banggood is a different shopping experience. It’s best if you know what you are really getting beyond the picture and the price. You should read the item description. On many items they have a listing for the picture may be the item shown with all of its accessories included. When you go to order there may be options like A, B, C, D. These options are for you to pick which version of the tool you want and what accessories you want with it. I often read buyer comments about somebody not getting what they wanted and that is because they were in too much of a hurry to read and made their own decision without knowing the specific tool package they really wanted and ordered the wrong one. You can’t order ala carte and expect the full dinner with drink and desert. Order accordingly.
If you can read, have good patience to learn how the purchasing process works and understand exactly what you are getting by reading the item description I think the ordering process is very simple. Some people can’t grasp that and point fingers at others instead of accepting their mistakes. You see it in their comments.
When I’m reading these comments in this thread I see too many negative comments about things that have nothing to do with buying woodworking tools online from Banggood in China. I have purchased many different types of tools for woodworking and other things off this website. I have a mechanical mind that helps me make a good choice based on many different tools from past experiences with different brands. I’m not afraid of buying anything cheap if I know its quality is cheap and my usage for the tool is short. The tools I purchased from Banggood are all exceptional quality, low priced and have never given me any service problems. That being said, I make sure that I understand that many of their tools are in metric. I convert these measurements into inches if needed and order appropriately.
Woodworking tools have been around for as long as man walked the earths surface. There are very few new inventions in woodworking tools so most have no patent or the patent expired years ago.
If you buy something on the site that has the chance of being frail under stress and it breaks and there are no parts or service centers to get a repair completed that is on you the buyer. Find a different retailer if after purchase support is your importance. You buy a model airplane from Banggood and upon your first flight landing you crash it and break something it’s not a manufacturer defect, it’s you breaking it . The same thing goes for other items. Woodworking layout tools are fairly rugged so I don’t think most will have any problems.
