Hi folx!
I was recently able to try out Festools HKC and was quite impressed with it.
Now i'm wondering: as a hobbyist , would it be possible to do the same things with the HKC ( or the Mafell equivalent, cuz i prefer corded tools) as with my Bosch GSC 8 SJL?
I think i could, but am i ocerlooking something..
Thanks for any help..

I have the HKC and it is great... really it is fantastic... but it doesn't, and never will, replace a mitre saw... DIYer or PRO.

OK, it depends what you are cutting I guess.

I have used the HKC with FSK 250 rail for sizing up 50x150 joists - perfect.

I have also used on the FS tracks with 18mm melamine board; plus a load of smaller 'batten' cuts, works very well.

I have also tried with TS blades on te HKC55 on the FS tracks, cuts nicely on thin material.

However, it will not do finish cuts for architraves, there just is not the accuracy. For me, the HKC replaces a basic sliding compound mitre saw. But it can not replace my finish mitre saw.

Thanks for your replies, [member=45057]aas[/member] . If it has about the same accuracy as a basic sliding mitre-saw, i'd be ok with that. I'm an amateur, working in mm and degrees, not a pro working in 1/10 and minutes. I do like the aspect of having to whip out the HKC and having the cut done before i even have set up the sawstand of my mitre-saw.
Merci!

OK, but bear in mind we are talking about 'basic' in the sense of joists, boards, battens and planks. Don't expect to be able to do fine trimming of 9mm quadrant, etc.
As I said previously, I have the FSK250 rail, it is perfect for what I use it. Next time I have a OSB floor to lay, I'll get the 670 rail.
Good luck and glad to be of help!
