This is a follow on to the design I posted in the Plans thread.

The conceptual Drawings:

Here are some pictures of the build...
So usually one starts at the beginning I decided to start at what would usually be the end. Seeing that the size of the TV and the top molding were the two main layout factors I decided that to be my starting point. I did a quick pencil layout on a wall of the overall size and thought that the unit should be a little higher than the origin 2meters that I had planned. I also modded the center unit to be slightly wider and the side cupboards to be slightly narrower.

The base of the cupboard just after running it through the router. The corners get chiseled out to make them square.I hate it when corners are left like this...
[attachthumb=#]

small pieces of foam to stop the panel from rattling after the door is glued up
[attachthumb=#]

doors busy drying with the panels all oiled up.
[attachthumb=#]

The crows nest of wires that has to get hooked up. The client is using a "Control 4" system. It... ( I love this part about it) "wirelessly" networks the basically the whole house if you like.

Graham,

Beautiful work!  I was about to post a walnut entertainment center I'm putting in, but then saw yours and said to myself "forget it, it doesn't have any curves, and it's not that much to look at (yet)!

Also,  great use of the ts to make bendy-ply.  Is Kerfcore not availbable over there?

Can't wait to see more.

Jon

Thanks Jon
We do have bendy ply here, however, I chose to use the 6mm panel to do it instead as there would be ample of it left over. I've managed so far to get the whole unit done with only three boards and a heap of solids.
Regardless of what you think of this and your unit you should still post your build!!

Great looking project.  Only one comment- your hand is WAY too close to that router bit in photo #10.......

Ha i knew if I bugged you you'd put this up. just what i wanted to see. keep us posted looking great so far. [big grin]

That would be my apprentice/helpers hand. Now that I am busy with the base of the unit its become worse/closer than that of pic 10  [crying]
I have little doubt that others have come just as close in normal day to day routing. I do take very good care when using a router I would hate to have my finger caught up in it  [eek]

Thank you.  I tend to shorten names coz writing Honeydokreg is just too long.... HOWEVER!!!  in your case I will write the whole name so no one gets any funny idea's  [big grin]

Just as an update I have installed the unit already, I am just waiting for delivery on the speaker covers before I spend some time trying to get some decent photos. When I have them I post more. For now I have added a few of the build and some of the installation. See them at the top of the thread

Ok here's a request. Besides more pictures which we all want to see. I want a short video of a film playing on the equipment in the unit with the lights down low. Maybe even just show that THX surround sound start up. That would be the pooch's plums  [big grin]
