OF1400 pistol grip question

I have an OF2200 and several other non-festool routers and have a question about the OF1400.

What I like about all my other plunge routers is that I have an even, low grip on the router because the handles are both at the same height. But the OF1400 has the pistol grip, which is higher up than the other handle/knob.

For those who own the OF1400 -- Have you ever wished it didn't have the pistol grip? Seems it would be a bit tippy for some operations like routing mortises on the edge of a board.

Same same. I find it ok, and use the edge guide where narrow pieces are in use.

Love my OF1400, never found the pistol grip a problem, in fact I think it's a real plus because it makes it so easy to use one handed  [cool]

It does take some getting used to, but I do like it.....well enough to have an OF1010 too. My only real issue with them is the trigger lock mechanism. As a left-handed user, that kind of thing happens a lot.

I own a 1010 and 1400 and have no issue with the grips on either. When doing precise freehand work with the 1010 (like routing finger mazes), I plunge the router and then guide it with my fingertips on the router base and palms on the material.

Yes, it feels somewhat less stable than a conventional router with low center of gravity knobs when doing profiling with a bearing bit. 

I have a 1400.  I use it on the guide rail with the guide stop, with my the LR32 system and I use it with the edge guide.  Works great in all those configurations. 

I really don't know if I can justify the price except for one thing.  I use the LR32 quite a bit and the 1400 has a silky smooth and easy plunge that makes that process fun.  You can plunge it smoothly with one finger.  Best I've ever felt.
