I've owned a 6" Porter Cable sander for 8 years and in all those years it's never seen an abrasive disc.  The only function for the PC sander is to polish and wax my cars.  Since purchasing the ETS 150/5 last year, I cannot stop buying Festool sanders.  I had no intentions, at the time of purchasing the 150/5, to ever purchase the Rotex. 150  But, after purchasing several Festool sanders in the past year and hearing all the wonderful things about the Rotex 150, I am starting to wonder if I need to add one to my sanding arsenal.

I am especially curious to know if anyone uses their Rotex 150 with the Griot's Garage polish & wax pads.  The PC works well for working on my cars, but it's noisy and I know I will never use it for sanding.  The ETS150/5 is perfect for furniture building, but the Rotex 150 can help with a variety of other tasks around the house.   I am interested to hear if anyone has used their Rotex 150 with the Griot's Garage pads.  Thanks.

That's kind of like buying a Lamborghini and looking around to find cheap accessories to bling it with.

I keep my woodworking ROS and my car detailing ROS separate.  I don't want to ever risk ruining a car finish with a stray wood chip on a disc.

The Flex forced rotation ROS is very popular in auto detailing.  It gives you most of the benefits of a rotary without the great risk of burning the paint.  Much more effective than the PC ROS for car detailing.  I swear by it, as do most of my friends.

I'm sure that Festool ROS can be used for auto detailing.  It's just not a risk I will take using it for both purposes.

And look for better quality stuff than the Griot's Garage line.  You can find much better/user friendly polishes and sealants for less money.

I use my PC for both. I just blow it out with compressed air. I did get a Flex this summer and it is much nicer and faster to use.

On polishes, I started out with the griots stuff years ago. I used menzerna the last two years and liked it better. This year I am curious about meguiars m105 and m205, but I still have menzerna to use up first.

I have and they fit just fine and the Rotex works very well for polishing.
Since it's hooked to a vacuum during sanding, I would do the same polishing on my vehicle so the dust wouldn't fall back to the surface and leave swirl marks. I've not used my rotex for auto stuff after I've sanded with it as I've got my Griots and Autogeek supplies for that. The rotex action did work very well.
