I thought this was a pretty good video showing the TS55R and different blades, etc... and I thought I would post a link here.  I found it when I was searching for video information on the new saw.

Based on this video I've just bought a panther blade for my TS55R. I've got an upcoming project where it will prove very useful.

Pretty cool video. Made me a believer in the Panther blade.  Since I dont cut more then 8/4 thick wood, looks like the 55 is all I need. Saves me $$$ from picking up the TS75

I was reading about the Panther on Amazon and they state it is 2.5mm kerf but then one review stated it was 2.2mm and Amazons info was wrong. Any idea which it is? There is also a rip blade with 12 teeth rather than 14 on the Panther. What is the difference?

I just checked the Festool catalog.  The old panther (rip) blade has a 2.5 mm kerf which caused issues with the splinter guard. The newer version has a 2.2 mm kerf which matches other blades.

I believe that catalog number 496305 is the new blade and that 495372 is the old.  Both are listed in the catalog on page 50 (US version).

There was a change to the blades a couple of years ago. The OLD panther blade was 2.5mm kerf, and had IIRC 14 teeth. The NEW panther blade has 12 teeth & a 2.2mm kerf to match the other blades.

Edit: Peter beat me to it. All the current blades have part numbers starting 496XXX. Any other part numbers are the old blades.

Thanks JRB & Peter.

For whatever reason Amazon does not even call them "Panther", they are just "Festool 496305 Standard Ripping Blade for TS 55 Plunge Cut Saw - 12 Tooth"

I could have used one today, ripping Brazilian Cherry at a 45, I really noticed how the standard blade struggles to clean out the kerf.

Thanks again.
