So what Festool do you >>NOT<< plan to buy (SACRILEGE.....)

CMS, Kapex, Planers, and possibly drills.  CMS just not worth it with limited multi-use (in USA).  Kapex just too much money.  Drills cost too much for me and centrotec just does not seem worth it.

The ones most important to me are Domino, TS55REQ, sanders, and Carvex

Probably the drills… Unless there is a cordless impact wrench lurking somewhere.

I need an impact wrench and when I discovered that Milwaukee make a cordless one in their M18 line my dreams of replacing my old Makita drills with some T18 drills went out the window, I can't see buying into two battery systems.

I am surprised at the number of people that knock the cost of the Festool drills without acknowledging their real value. It's not all about Centrotec ... the real value is in the interchangeable chucks!!!

Regarding Centrotec, Festool make a $20 dollar adaptor so you can use the little Centrotec chuck on any standard drill chuck. Plus Festool offers STANDARD CHUCKS.

It would appear that the US price for Festool cordless drills is no where near as heavily price subsidised by the rest of the world compared to the rest of the Festool range - which makes the Festool drills in the US relatively more expensive than the saws, routers, dominos, etc.

...

Woodworking is my hobby, not my profession. My actual profession pays me enough to buy tools I enjoy. [wink]

Cooltainer.....  They DO have a thick insulation of foam inside, and DO hold water[my dealer is demo-ing one on their counter at this point and the ice had not fully melted inside of it even after a couple of days. But, I'm not buying one

It took one project for me to decide that I hate working with drywall... so probably no planex.

The Festool drills are awesome.  I have one - hope to add at least one more at some point...

My Cooltainer arrived yesterday.  Haven't had a chance to test it yet.

Calling Festool drills too expensive is like saying a Ferrari is too red?

When considered within the wider Festool system (i.e. Centrotec, pooled batteries, etc.) they tend to be more justifiable but then that's true of a lot of the Festool stable of products.

And besides, they have the reasonably priced CXS which is a cunning way of pushing people over the edge to the other drills.

I gotta admit I got the Cooltainer. At the bare minimum I can use it for storage (beer anyone)...

Thought about getting the Cooltainer, then I looked at the shelf where there are six coolers that seldom rarely get used and thought, I'd much rather spring for the Carvex that would actually get some use.

Yup... The CXS is the gateway drug which leads to total addiction! Dang Festool Drug Pushers!! [mad] [tongue]

Cheers,

Actually, I plan to not buy ALL Festool products, because I've already bought all of them. I sold my house, my two cars, my boat and my cottage to afford all these Festool tools.

Oh yeah, I also bought a big tent to store these tools and since I don't have a house anymore, I live in the tent too. It's unheated, has no electricity or running water and gets kind of cold in there during the winter, but I keep warm by snuggling up with all my Festools. Since I've got no electricity, I sneak into shopping malls in the middle of the night to charge my cordless tools. I just have to figure out where I can run the corded tools.

I'm the luckiest guy in the world to own all these Festool tools.  ::)

Thanks for all the comments so far. Entertaining and enlightening.....

Also I do not see myself getting a Kapex (at least as long as it does not have a 12" blade, full 4" cutting capacity). I own a Dewalt 12" compound sliding miter saw which I am very happy with.

Dang, where can I find more money to spend......

I have to admit I absolutely love the Milwaukee M12 system (and keep my old Dewalt 18v around for big jobs) so I won't be buying a Festool drill anytime soon.

I plan to make my own MFT as an assembly table for my workshop (larger, more stable, less expensive) so the real deal is not in the picture.

I've thus far resisted a CT because my Fein Turbo 2 does the job.  That may change if I get a second vac.

The last time I said I wouldnt buy another festool,

It was during the evening meal after the first day of a festool end users class. I told Steve the the rest the I would not absolutely not buy a domino. I couldnt see a need for it and on and on I ranted.

After the second day of the class after we spent the day using the domino in different applications...

I went out and bought one.

I told Steve Base and He started laughing. I think he tells that tail during his classes.

I know I would.

I own a TS75, Carvex and Domino. They work extremely well, accomplish tasks beyond the ability of other tools. But having them is an equal need and want for both hobby and paid projects.

I have zero plans of buying anymore Festool tools. I see no need to spend the premium over the excellent tools I already have. I own Bosch, Ryobi, Makita, Skil, Dewalt and the list goes on and on. A smorgasbord of tools from Amazon, HD and Lowes and beyond over the years. All those tools work great and my projects in no way suffer.

Sometimes I wonder what screw is loose in someone's head when I see they virtually own everything Festool makes.

I hope you're very happy with your cross section of tool brands ... I see no reason to turn to being insulting towards people that like to standardise on a premium provider and leverage the system approaches offered by Festool.

Just for reference, this site is the Festool Owner's Group home site. What sort of people would you expect to find here? Ryobi enthusiasts?

Oh lighten up.  He simply stated an opinion.  One that many, myself included, agree with.  I like my Festools, but they don't trump everything else simply because they have a Festool label.

There are often a number of threads in FOG about Festool addiction.  Some of them are quite silly in the dollars spent.  These threads are akin to people with addictions for collecting designer shoes and handbags.  So the comments above seem fitting.

Lastly, this site is for Festool Owners.  I don't see anything that says you have to be a Festool addict or fanboy.

You "lighten up" ... I simply stated my opinion (ok in your eyes for someone else to do, but not for me) ... and maybe let people respond with their own excuses and reasons instead of jumping on me because you have your own axe to grind.
